Ask any teacher at any level of education – technology engages learners and animates their imagination. Technology stimulates minds in ways that make a profound and lasting difference. Indeed, technology, for many, is the most important new teaching strategy and learning style introduced in the past 50 years. Yet, the discipline is woefully lax in quantifiable and qualitative validation of successful learning outcomes. Learners with basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic master those skills better and faster with technology; yet the research is not there to defend how much better or how much faster these skills are acquired. Technology offers educators a way to adapt instruction to the needs of more diverse learners; still, such successes are not generalized across populations or content areas. Learners use technology to acquire and organize information evidence to obtain a higher level of comprehension; but we are not sure why. The purpose of the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education (IJICTE) is to grow this body of research, propose new applications of technology for teaching and learning, and document those practices that contribute irrefutable verification of information technology education as a discipline.

The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education (IJICTE) would like to invite you to consider submitting a manuscript for inclusion in this scholarly journal. The following describes the mission, the coverage and the guidelines for submission to IJICTE.

Mission

The mission of the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education (IJICTE) is to serve as a medium for introducing, collaborating, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating innovative contributions to the theory, practice, and research of technology education applicable to K-12 education, higher education, and corporate and proprietary education. IJICTE publishes articles promoting the advancement of teaching with technology at all levels of education encompassing all domains of learning.


Coverage

IJICTE publishes contributions from all disciplines of information technology education. In particular, the journal supports multidisciplinary research in the following areas:

  • Acceptable use policies and fair use laws
  • Administrative applications of information technology education
  • Corporate information technology training
  • Data-driven decision making and strategic technology planning
  • Educational/training software evaluation
  • Effective planning, marketing, management and leadership of technology education
  • Impact of technology in society and related equity issues
  • Impact of technology on student achievement
  • Pedagogy and androgogy of teaching with technology
  • Related issues that impact the research, position, and practice of information technology education on schools, corporate entities, and society
  • School improvement and reform
  • Standards-based technology education programs
  • Technology as a teaching strategy and learning style
  • Technology training tools and instructional materials
  • Theories and models of instructional systems design

IJICTE promotes the research, position, and practice of technology education in its broadest sense to ensure coverage of topics such as:

  • Assessment of curricular objectives, administrative applications, and corporate objectives
  • Holistic approach to instructional design theories
  • Impact of multicultural differences on technology
  • Impact of technology on education-related issues such as copyright laws, censorship, and fair use
  • Pedagogy and androgogy of teaching with technology
  • Technology as a teaching (teacher/instructor) strategy and learning (student) style
  • Technology planning, marketing, and management
  • Technology tools for education and training environments



Submission

Prospective authors should note that only original and previously unpublished article manuscripts will be considered. Interested authors must consult the Journal Guidelines for Manuscript Submission at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/journal-guidelines-for-submission/?titleid=1082 PRIOR to submission. Any further questions may be answered at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/. All article manuscript submissions will be forwarded to at least three members of the editorial review board of the journal for a double-blind peer review. The final decision regarding acceptance/revision/rejection will be based on the reviews received from the reviewers.

Starting January 1st, 2021, this journal will be converting from Hybrid Open Access to full Gold Open Access, meaning from January 1st, 2021 onward all of its published contents will be 100% open access and the copyright of the published work will stay with the author(s) ((Note: IGI Global open access journal article manuscript publishing offers authors the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licensing arrangement. The copyright for the work remains solely with the author(s) of the article manuscript), and the publisher will provide the published contents free of charge globally (there will no longer be subscription fees or payment of any kind required for individuals and libraries to access and utilize the published contents).

Once the journal is converted to Gold Open Access in 2021 and will no longer have subscription revenue backing it, the journal will be heavily reliant on Open Access Article Processing Charges (APCs) payment provided by either the author(s) or his/her/their respective institution or another funding agency, AFTER the article manuscript submission has been through a full double-blind peer review and the Editor-in-Chief at his/her full discretion has decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process. The APC will offset the costs of all of the activities associated with the publication of the article manuscript, including the digital tools used to support the manuscript management and review process, the typesetting, formatting and layout, online hosting, the submission of the journal’s content to numerous abstracts, directories, and indexes, third party software (plagiarism checks), editorial support which includes manuscript tracking, communications, submission guideline checks, communications with authors and reviewers, as well as all promotional support and activities which includes metadata distribution, press releases, promotional communications, web content, ads, fliers, brochures, postcards, etc. for the journal and its published contents; and the fact that all published articles will be freely accessible and able to be posted and disseminated widely by the authors.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) for this journal is currently set at $1,500 USD and authors will not be asked to provide payment of the APC fee (directly to the publisher) until AFTER their manuscript has gone through the full double-blind peer review process and the Editor-in-Chief at his/her full discretion has decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process. Please note that there is absolutely NO correlation between the APC (Article Processing Charge) being paid by the author and the results of review process outcomes.

Those coming from certain developing countries will be able to take advantage of discounts or waivers with careful consideration by IGI Global’s Executive Editorial Board. Also, authors of submitted manuscripts can take advantage of IGI Global’s Read and Publish Open Access Initiative, which allows authors who are affiliated with institutions that are currently subscribed to one or more IGI Global databases to benefit from APC funding (you can learn more about how this all works here). In the case of a multi-authored work, even if only one author is eligible for the discount or waiver, all authors of the work will benefit from the waiver or discount. Additionally, if an author chooses to utilize any of IGI Global’s Author Services on their manuscript, the amount paid for any of these author services will be deducted from the final Article Processing Charge (APC).
