Editor/Author Biographies
Kin Wai Michael Siu is Chair Professor of Public Design. He is Founder and Lab Leader of the Public Design Lab, School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was the Visiting Scholar of the University of Cambridge, Fulbright Scholar of the MIT, ASIA Fellow of the National University of Singapore, and Visiting Scholar of the UC Berkeley. He has served the Hong Kong Government's advisory committees and professional bodies as members. He owns more than 50 invention and design patents. His research interests are in design culture, public design, universal and inclusive design, and user-reception.
Giovanni Contreras is currently working towards his PhD in Design Education at the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has been design lecturer and practicing industrial designer in China, the US and Mexico. He was Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cincinnati where he obtained a master of design, and a recipient of the Hong Kong PhD fellowship. He has been member of the Industrial Designers Society of America and winner of the China iF Design Award. His research interests sit at the intersection of philosophy, design, education, and digital technologies.
