Khosrow-Pour, an author and editor who taught information system courses at Penn State U., compiles 24 case studies describing methods used to assess an education course, how to implement assessments, what factors to assess, and which factors determine the success of the result, as well as how to measure and convey results. Topics discussed include the alignment of course objectives and assessments, the use of program and institutional data, data for issues of retention and graduation rates, and collaboration in student assessment research. Also examined are pre-service teachers' diversity awareness, the relationship between freshman composition courses and student performance in intensive writing courses, and online learning environments.
