IGI Global’s free informative session, “Increase the Sharing Power for Your Previously Published Work Through Retrospective Open Access,” was held on Friday December 16th, and was met with both interest and support from the academic community.

Through the University of North Texas’ investment in IGI Global e-Collections, the institution was able to support publishing the Handbook of Research on the Global View of Open Access and Scholarly Communications, edited by Dr. Daniel Gelaw Alemneh, from this institution, under diamond OA. Additionally, this initiative is providing unlimited OA article processing charge and chapter processing charge waivers for their institution.

Exceptional education, otherwise known as special education, has been plagued with deficit thinking and practices that have limited the growth of students from culturally and linguistically diverse background. Because of this, marginalized students have often been placed inappropriately in more restrictive learning environments early in education, resulting in placing limitations on these students based on perceptions.

Researchers are continually struggling to secure funding for their Open Access (OA) publishing pursuits. Many institutions and universities do have funding available through their library resources, such as e-Collections and other digital resources, but that funding is not specifically allocated for open access publishing for their faculty, students, and researchers.
